Continuing Concrete

Work resumed this week with gravel backfill against the foundation walls and the footing for the garage and front porch poured.  We'll next have the short foundation walls for the garage and porch done and then the garage and basement floors poured.  There are a lot of steps to having a concrete foundation and basement.

Our framer, Danny, will start soon after enough concrete work is done, hopefully sometime next week.  I'll be getting the temporary electrical pole put in and accessible soon also.  Today after work I'll be out cutting up more of the four oak trees that were pushed down.

Last Week Was Busy

We had the foundation forms filled and the footing for the retaining wall set earlier last week.  The forms then came off on Thursday and the plumber Scott came by on Friday and roughed in the drains in the basement before the floor gets poured.  Our Spring is in full swing here and it's getting very green.  Our oak trees haven't budded much yet but that might change this week as it's set to be in the 60s and 70s and rain tomorrow and Wednesday.  The fields are green and the Redbuds and Bradford's are in full bloom.

Foundation In Process

The forms for the foundation walls were put up yesterday and they were filled in with concrete today.  Even this little bit helps us to visualize where and how the house will look.  We're having great spring weather this week so it's worked out perfect for the concrete work.

We Have Feet!

I mean footing.  Our foundation's footing was poured today in preparation of the foundation walls.  Unfortunately we expect to get rain tonight, all day tomorrow and then more this weekend so we won't see those walls until later next week.  It doesn't look like much but it's one step closer.
